WordPress Security Tips

1. Make sour you are ALWAYS running the latest version of WordPress of - As with any software, new versions are released all the time being in an endeavor to make the software more able, consistent and MOST importantly: more secure. It is very easy to stay on top of this with WordPress by simply logging into your WordPress admin control panel, and looking at the bottom of the 'Right Now' box in the top-left of your 'Dashboard' section. It’s already listed there the version of your WordPress website which you are currently running, and a button to press to download the latest.

HOWEVER, if you start updating from the WordPress admin control panel, you should not use Softaculous to apply any updates. Softaculous Does not keep track of any updates done from WordPress admin panel.

2.  Regularly change your passwords – Reprise Hosting Strongly recommends this for any online venture their customers are involved in, the goal SPECIFICALLY passwords for your WordPress Admin control panel and for your cPanel control panel.

3. Use the latest version of any of WordPress themes and / or plugins you have installed on your website - Again for security Reasons, it is always best to use the latest release of any software you use, and this includes WordPress themes and / or plugins. HOWEVER, it is significant to keep in mind here that in MOST cases, themes and plugins are created and offered by independent web developers, and not WordPress Themselves. It’s always being said, their theme or plugin may not always be fully compliant with the latest release of WordPress, so while updating the release of either makes your site more secure, because this may result in incompatibility issues with your website. We still recommend always HAVING of the latest version of WordPress

4. Themes and plugins must be updated from WordPress admin control panel.
